TEXAS LASER HAIR REMOVAL
LICENSURE PATHWAY
There are four levels within the Texas laser hair removal technician pathway:
Level 1
Laser Hair Removal Apprentice-in-Training

Begin performing laser hair removal treatments under the required supervision.
level 2
Certified Laser Hair Removal Technician
Advance your registration after completing the required training and supervised experience.
level 3
Senior Laser Hair Removal Technician
​
Advance into a senior-level role with additional experience and supervisory responsibilities.

Professional Laser Hair Removal Technician
​
The highest technician level within the laser hair removal licensing pathway.
LEVEL 1
The 40-Hour Laser Hair Removal Apprentice-in-Training course is designed for students
beginning their career in laser hair removal.

This hybrid certification program combines comprehensive online education with
in-person lecture and hands-on training at our facility. Students will study the theory,
science, safety, & practical application of laser hair removal while developing the
foundational skills needed to begin working.
Online Course Portion
The online portion of your training is self-paced and available 24/7. Students will work through instructional videos, presentations, educational materials, quizzes, and assessments from home.
All required online coursework must be completed before attending your scheduled hands-on training. For the best experience, we recommend completing your online coursework using a laptop or desktop computer.
Admission Requirements
Students must:
- Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application
- Have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Be proficient in English reading and writing
in-person Training
Your in-person training includes classroom instruction, hands-on laser hair removal practice, course review, and CPR training.
Students who already hold a current CPR certification are not required to stay for the CPR portion.
Day one:
9:00 AM–1:00 PM — Lecture
1:00 PM–2:00 PM — Lunch
2:00 PM–5:00 PM — Hands-On Training
Day two:
9:00 AM–1:00 PM — Lecture
1:00 PM–2:00 PM — Lunch
2:00 PM–4:30 PM — Exam
4:30 PM–6:00 PM — CPR Training
LEVEL 2
The 100 Treatment Practicum provides students with supervised, hands-on experience performing laser hair removal treatments. Students will complete 100 treated areas on four different live models under the direct supervision of a Registered Senior or Registered Professional Laser Hair Removal Technician.

This course is designed to help students build confidence, gain real-world treatment
experience, and progress toward the next level of Texas laser hair removal licensure.
LEVEL 3
Senior Laser Hair Removal Technician
The Senior Laser Hair Removal Technician level is designed for licensed laser technicians who are ready to advance their credentials.
As part of this level, students are required to observe 100 laser treatments performed by an Apprentice-in-Training while continuing to strengthen their knowledge of laser treatment protocols, client care, safety, and professional practice.

Approximately 4–5 hours total.

LEVEL 4
Professional Laser Hair Removal Technician
Professional Laser Hair Removal Technician is the fourth and highest level of laser hair removal technician registration outlined in this training pathway.

Students completing this level will take a written examination designed to demonstrate
their knowledge of laser hair removal practices, safety, treatment considerations, and professional responsibilities. A passing score of 70% or higher is required.

Laser hair removal licensing requirements vary by state. These courses and licensing pathways are intended for students pursuing laser hair removal registration in Texas. Students outside of Texas should contact their applicable state regulatory agency for licensing requirements.
NOTE: As you may already suspect, laser hair removal is regulated at the state level, so be careful, as if you are practicing in a state other than Texas, these rules will not apply to you. You want to inquire with your state regulatory authority (i.e., medical board, cosmetology board, health department) as to the rules and regulations specific to where you are located.
